High mountain reservoirs Kaprun
Experience the impressive reservoirs at 2,000m
In the midst of the imposing mountains of the Hohe Tauern you will find the reservoirs Mooserboden and Wasserfallboden.
107m high and almost 500m long is the Mooser dam – enjoy the huge reservoirs at an altitude of 2,000m. Modern buses will take you to the heart of the alpine mountains of the Hohe Tauern. Europe’s largest open inclined elevator, is currently out of service and will not be back in operation until the 2014 season.
Dam tour
Walk on the dam, visit the inside of the Mooser dam and learn how “clean” electricity is generated here from 160 million m³ of water. There is a lot to discover in the “Experience World Electricity & Ice”, here you can experience the interplay of glaciers, power plant construction and green electricity generation at first hand.
Herbal nature trail
Enjoy the hike from the Mooserboden mountain restaurant to the Fürthermoaralm. The trail offers a breathtaking view over the high mountain landscape (Glockner group, Steinernes Meer, reservoirs). With 45 minutes walking time and 237 hm, the herbal trail is also suitable for families. From the Fürthermoaralm you can take the bus back to the valley or to Mooserboden.
With the Zell am See-Kaprun Card the ascent and descent to the reservoirs is free of charge!
